An engineering physics graduate from Polytech Clermont-Ferrand very quickly enters the labour market, while certain graduates pursue a PhD or a specialized master’s degree subsequently.

Specificities of Engineering Physics Engineers

The sectors of activity targeted by the Engineering Physics training have, since the beginning, concerned major areas of the manufacturing industry, such as :

  • construction of means of transport (aeronautics, space, automobile, railway, naval),
  • production and processing of materials (metallurgy, composites, ...),
  • industrial equipment (production and manufacturing lines).

In the current global context, the emergence of a strong need for physicists in the field of energy (production, conversion, storage) and sustainable development has led this field to become the first hiring sector (30%) graduated students in Engineering Physics since 2008, in the nuclear field, renewable energies (wind, solar, hydraulic) or fossil fuels (oil, gas) and energy mix.

The skills are also needed in high technologies (nanotechnologies, microelectronics...), consulting firms, building, health, IT, ...

The multidisciplinary nature of the engineering physics training allows the training of interdisciplinary engineers in the fields of materials and energy, who have the ability to quickly adapt to the different functions described here above and to the needs of the world industrial sector. With a little experience, the Polytech Clermont-Ferrand Engineering Physics Engineer has all the skills required to apply for technical project manager.
